I’m Matias — a recent graduate of Cambridge University with a Master’s in Engineering. I currently work as an ASIC Design Engineer at Raspberry Pi, designer of the little credit card-sized computers, since November 2023.
My interests outside of work are varied ranging from tinkering with embedded systems, cooking and language learning.
A bit more about me
I’m half Portuguese and half Chinese. I was born in Stockholm and shortly after moved to 7 countries around the world while growing up. It was a fantastic experience to which I owe a big chunk of my personality and core values. Along the way, I picked up 5 languages and traveled to over 40 countries.
What did I study?
I completed the four year Engineering course at the Engineering Department at the University of Cambridge, with a specialization in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
The course is formally named MEng Engineering and it is an “integrated masters”, which means that I graduated with a Master’s in Engineering (MEng) as well as the Cambridge BA that is conferred for all undergraduate courses.
How many languages do you speak?
Only 5, I promise! I’m working on my Mandarin right now but I’m also looking to attain a CEFR B1 German by the end of 2024.
What’s your favorite quote?
There is no passion to be found playing small; in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.— Nelson Mandela
What do you know?
I know nothing.
